Tonight we delivered an hour-long drama workshop for the charity KIDS Strut during their Tuesday’s after-school club.
The group consisted of 12 young people, aged between 8 and 14, all with additional needs.
We played a few games: ‘Grandmother’s Footsteps’ and ‘Pass the Clap’, we played with finger puppets, we dressed up, improvised and we role-played. With a loose and flexible structure we allowed for the children to lead at points, and to listen and respond at others.
Tonight confidence, self-esteem, socialisation and communication were the main skills being worked on in a subtle and fun way – we had many laughs, lots of smiles, and lots of hugs when we left.
